The philosophy of my dance studio is strongly influenced by my many other experiences in the dance world, the field of montessori education, my experience as a parent having raised 3 children. A dance studio will always follow the philosophy of the owner.

Tutu Ballet Academy believes that children have an unlimited capacity for learning if we tap into their creative learning process. Our teaching approach must be creative, inspiring and fun. When a child is inspired, success and learning is sure to follow. As teachers we are placed in a tremendous amount of responsibility to not only educate but to nurture.
I believe we are not just training ballerinas in technique we are also training their characters and team spirit and we have to take responsibility for this by modeling this behavior. I want it to be a place that families can make memories together and see their children grow and become beautiful professional dancers. I believe we should make the journey a fun and positive experience for all involved. I have a very transparent approach to my business and practice an open door policy. There will be potluck dinners, fundraisers, parades, parties and many opportunities for families to socialize together at my school. We are a community and feedback from parents is not something I shy away from. As a matter of fact I thrive on it and even have a suggestion box in my studio so I can have a pulse on how things are running.
After many many years of limited choices of ballet schools in this valley it is nice to be able to offer Santa Clarita Residents their very own ballet academy and one with a completely child friendly approach and philosophy to children. My approach is progressive and very much in alignment with the latest research in child development. We offer children the Royal Academy of Dance annual Exams. With the arrival of Tutu Ballet Academy, Santa Clarita can now boast its 1st child friendly Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Schools that offers these exams. That is rare and a true testament to how quickly Santa Clarita is growing! It is exciting as a local resident and business owner to watch this growth. I live here and I’ve raised my kids here. At Tutu Ballet Academy our focus is on proper ballet training through the Royal Academy of Dance Curriculum. What makes us different is our approach to how we teach children especially the 9 and under age bracket. It has to be fun and inspiring for them. Our careful treatment of this age will prepare them for the harder training that comes later on. We bring the theatre back into ballet class with large props, imagination & engaging stories. We make children fall in love with ballet again. Ballet hasn’t changed but children’s research now shows us the many mistakes ballet classes and teachers in the past have made. Children got turned off by the wrong teaching approach and lack of understanding and training from teachers. A Great dancer does not make a great teacher, but many still get the job. Teaching is an art that has to be learned! My teachers are all scrutinized personally by me for their teaching ability and classroom manner with children. Unfortunately Many of us remember that harsh, stern ballet mistresses with the long teaching stick who believed children should be seen and not heard. I challenge any parent out there who’s child at one point tried ballet and didnt like it to come to my school, and see the difference.
We are progressive and new and we are teaching the new generation of ballerinas to be able to do it all. We build their self esteem first then their coordination 2nd. They also have to be able to switch between, hip hop, jazz and tap and still pull it all together for an amazing ballet performance. This is also why I spent many years researching Vaganova Russian teaching method as it gives children an edge in their dancing. Todays ballerinas do it all and are multi talented. The only thing holding todays dancers back is a teacher who doesn’t believe they can do it. Ballet is the foundation of all dance and a necessity to excel.
