TIPS ON FITNESS for my lady pals after teaching dancing for 30 years! Lets just take for example my class “Dancing with the ladies”. This is a dance class that I offer at my dance school for adult Ladies over 21 or like me waaay over 21.  It teaches them the basics of ballet dancing and jazz dancing at a gentle pace.  There is no counting cal, no heart rate monitors, its not a fad, not an extremely painful bootcamp, or intense pilates class….. its Just Dancing! I actually don’t know how many calories it burns and I’m not really focused on that lol! More and more adults are stepping foot into the dance schools of their childhoods looking for a chance to rekindle their love of dancing.  Dancing with the stars has told those adults “you can do it”, age is just a number.  This show has really brought a lot of attention back to adults dancing around the world.  People are not just investing in tuition at dance schools for their children they are investing in their own dance classes.  Dance training at a dance school is fast becoming a favorite hobby of adults.  Dancing is a hobby that incorporate fitness with something you love to do naturally. I tell my friends to be honest w themselves as far as if they really deep down enjoy what they are currently doing for fitness. I don’t think they do! Some have invested hundreds of dollars to inflict a grueling workout on themselves  in front of their tvs for 3 months straight.  I half believe them when they tell me they love it, I I think they are more in love with what the results could bring and and they don’t care about the painful not so FUN process.  The reality is very few finish these courses of fitness.  The process is the most important part.  You can’t fool your mind into thinking you enjoy something when you don’t.  You have to think to yourself, If you already had the perfect body and never got fat would you be doing the exercise you are doing today? Sometimes we convince ourselves we love something and drag our selves to all kinds of classes all over town. However we hate it deep down and are only in love w the results the class promises and not the process. Dance schools and classes for adults offer a fun PROCESS and the end results are good too.  Learning to dance is not like fast food it takes time and the process is fun and rewarding. Its a hobby, you’ll be doing it for a while.  Unfortunately todays society wants everything fast.  Dancing is not like fast food.  You have to start slow just like typing and then you gain speed and accuracy.  It starts w being honest w yourself, find something where you enjoy the process to getting fit, like yourself where you are at NOW! If you are only focused on the end results of an activity and you are “fake” enjoying it, it starts the yoyo syndrome of starting and stopping exercise. You go all out and then life happens as it tends to do and you stop. Similar to binge eating! I’ve done it! Steady and consistent wins the race. SO STOP ! Find a hobby you love, dance, golf, hiking, walking, tennis, invest in it its worth it!, become good at it, do it weekly, learn and grow, make friends w others in yur hobby. It’s the secret to longterm fitness. It has to be a lifestyle! It’s like playing as a child, no one forced you to go up and down a slide 1000 times, you had fun, you enjoyed it, you ran around for hrs until you fell over. You have to find your PLAY as an adult and DO IT for exercise. If you love to dance, go to your local dance studio like mine and find a beginner adult dance class that is focused on adults.  The class I offer , “dancing with the ladies” you have to be over 21.  I don’t throw my adults in with a bunch of teenagers as an afterthought.  We deserve our own class.  We have different expectations and life experiences to teenagers.  We need our own class.  This is why I invest time at my studio for just adults.  Yes I could use those hours to do more children’s ballet classes but dancing is an important part of my adult life and it is something that make me happy.  I want other women to experience the joy of adult dance too and if they choose to I’d love them to try it at my dance school….. either way if you love to dance take it up as a hobby,

xoxo Ms Anna
