DANCE MOM QUESTION OF THE DAY?
1. Whats the Difference between a “Ballet Academy” vs one of the many “Dance Studios” in SCV, they are all the same price so whats the diff.?

OK so Your child is dancing around the house and you know that “Dance Mom” is definitely in the near future, What do you do? Well you can either CRY or SMILE. It depends so read on……. Whether you have a 3 year old or 18 year old dancer, Know that Dance is a Sport and it can be a dangerous sport.

KNOWLEDGE allows you to make an informed decision to keep your childs precious body safe and healthy. 1st, You are not choosing clothing or food so you have to put “specials”, “deals” or “coupons” out of your mind when shopping dance classes. IM SERIOUS! Most studios in SCV are the same price anyway give or take a few dollars so just stop!. Convenience and price should NEVER come into the equation.

Please know that Children as young as 3 can get long lasting bone injuries & deformities in the wrong hands and you will be responsible whether you knew about it or not! Believe me its not worth the $1 difference between dolly dinkles studio around the corner and a true gem of an Academy 5 miles away. This is your childs body so choose wisely because more than likely they will love it and stick at it for years to come.

If you don’t read on remember this, the school you choose needs to be regulated by an OUTSIDE governing body other than THEMSELVES!!!!! This is a BIG problem and it is what separates Tutu Ballet Academy from all the other dance studios in SCV. We are held accountable for good training and we have repercussions if we don’t! DANCE MOM TRAINING starts here… read on!

Welcome to Tutu Ballet Academy. It is our pleasure and honor to explain what sets an Academy like ours apart from a Dance Studio to you today. Tutu Ballet Academy is a full-fledged Ballet Academy. Tutu Ballet Academy believes that children have an unlimited capacity for learning if we tap into their creative learning process. Our teaching approach must be creative, inspiring and fun. When a child is inspired, success and learning is sure to follow. As teachers we are placed in a tremendous amount of responsibility to not only educate but to nurture.

There is a dance studio on every corner of most cities but Ballet Academy’s are few and far between. We have ballerinas traveling to us from as far as Sylmar, Beverly hills & Santa Monica for our World Famous R.A.D. Graded Ballet Curriculum. Our Academy Graded classes are much like a school system. As they move up through the grades It chronicles their childhood from baby ballerinas in Preschool, to Prima Ballerinas graduating high school. They literally grow up at our studio.

What sets Tutu Ballet Academy apart from other dance studios is that we are members of The Royal Academy of Dance in London (R.A.D.) . 99% of Dance studios in the US are not regulated by a governing body (R.A.D.) and they can teach whatever they want and call it Ballet/Dance . Most will have you believe Ballet is one size fits all but it is not and as a result children can get improperly trained & injured by an unregulated Ballet Teacher. Gymnastics is Regulated, Karate is regulated but unfortunately Dance regulation is in its infancy in the US. Informed Parents are now finding out their options through the internet and realizing that Academy’s like Tutu Ballet Academy are the same price and better training.

The Royal Academy of Dance is one of the world’s most influential dance education and training organizations. The RAD promotes the knowledge, understanding and practice of dance internationally. We seek to accomplish this through promoting dance, educating and training students and teachers and providing examinations to set standards and reward achievement.

The Royal Academy of Dance is internationally recognized for the highest standards of teaching and learning, as a leader in continuing professional development in dance and as the professional membership body that supports and promotes dance teachers at every step of their career encouraging their innovative contributions to dance and education throughout the world.

The RAD has a long history of improving dance training standards. It was founded in 1920 to reinvigorate dance teaching within the UK; however, over time it has expanded its influence and activities internationally counting currently more than 1,000 students in full-time or part-time teacher training programs. The RAD examination syllabus, taught to more than a quarter of a million students worldwide, helps and encourages teachers to perfect their teaching skills and pass on this knowledge to their students.

The Academy’s patron is Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Today the RAD has a presence in 79 countries, with 36 offices and approximately 14,000 members worldwide. The RAD supports its membership base of professional dancers, students, teachers, benefactors and friends through the knowledge, support and technical expertise of our highly qualified staff and the social interaction of like-minded enthusiasts at RAD conferences, workshops, training courses or summer schools.

As an awarding body, the Royal Academy of Dance Examinations Board offers an internationally recognized portfolio of exams and assessments. These are designed to motivate and encourage students of all ages and levels of ability, through a systematic measurement of progress and attainment. Last year, over 230,000 students entered RAD exams worldwide. We offer examination programs to suit all, whether students are new to ballet or already have dance experience.

Students can only be entered for exams by a qualified Royal Academy of Dance Registered Teacher. To qualify for RAD RT status, teachers must complete one of the RAD’s rigorous certification programs.
